1.1.J.100 JETCCFA hours

Definition

JETCCFA hours are the hours of approved child care for which JETCCFA is payable for a child in a week.

Hours of care at a person's nominated approved child care service is based on an allocation of 12 hours per day, regardless of child care service type. Therefore JETCCFA hours will always be granted in multiples of 12 hours per service type, i.e. 12, 24, 36, 48 or 60 hours (or more if required) per week. A service type may only use whatever portion of the 12 hours that can be attributed to the session of care on one particular day. The 12 hours approved cannot be taken over more than one session of care.

JETCCFA hours are not necessarily the same as activity related hours because JETCCFA hours are those hours for which the person needs approved child care.

Example: Sarah, a JETCCFA recipient, has a son William who attends primary school. The school operates from 9 am to 3 pm each day. Sarah will be working during the school term on Mondays from 10 am to 2 pm, Tuesdays from 8 am to 2 pm and Wednesdays from 10 am to 4 pm. Although Sarah has activity related hours on all 3 days, she does not require JETCCFA hours for Mondays while William is in school. Sarah only requires JETCCFA hours for Before School Care on Tuesdays and After School Care on Wednesdays to support her activity related hours on these days.

William will be granted 2 days × 12 JETCCFA hours (for Tuesdays and Wednesdays).

JETCCFA is granted 24 hours per week, specifically for OSHC service type.

(Please note this example does not take into account any non-contact hours).
