This definition applies to YA and Austudy payments in respect of Australian Apprentices (previously known as new apprentices).

Definition

The Commonwealth registration number is a number issued by the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations to an Australian Apprentice.

To be considered a full-time Australian Apprentice for YA and Austudy purposes a person must have a current (and not suspended) Commonwealth registration number.

The Department of Employment and Workplace Relations is responsible for policy on Commonwealth registration numbers for Australian Apprentices.
