1.1.D.233 Disqualifying scholarship

Summary

Receipt of a disqualifying scholarship precludes a student from receiving other similar assistance for the same purpose in the same period. Under the SSAct Indigenous Commonwealth scholarships are defined as disqualifying scholarships. There are 2 disqualifying scholarships, a disqualifying accommodation scholarship and a disqualifying education costs scholarship.

A disqualifying accommodation scholarship means:

  • a scholarship
    • provided for under the Higher Education Support Act 2003, and
    • specified by the Secretary as determined by the SSAct, or
  • an Indigenous Commonwealth Accommodation Scholarship provided for in the Indigenous Student Assistance Grants Guidelines 2017.

A disqualifying education costs scholarship means:

  • a scholarship
    • provided for under the Higher Education Support Act, and
    • specified by the Secretary as determined by the SSAct, or
  • an Indigenous Commonwealth Education Costs Scholarship provided for in the Indigenous Student Assistance Grants Guidelines.
