10.12.4.20 Where People Can Lodge Claims under the Agreement with Cyprus

Where claims can be lodged

Claims for Australian benefits covered by the Agreement with Cyprus can be lodged:

  • in Australia, with any Centrelink office,
  • in Cyprus, with any office of the Department of Social Insurance Services, and
  • in a third country, with which Australia has an appropriate agreement, with the authority nominated in the administrative arrangement to that appropriate agreement.

Article 13 of the Agreement with Cyprus allows for the date a claim is lodged in the territory of the other party, or with the authority nominated in the administrative arrangement of a third country with which Australia has an agreement that covers claim lodgement, to be accepted as the date of lodgement in Australia and Cyprus.
