10.15.11.20 Lodgement of Appeals - Agreement with the USA

Lodgement of appeals

All appeal documents, whether for an Australian or USA payment, may be lodged in Australia or the USA.

The date of lodgement of an appeal in the USA is deemed to be the date of lodgement in Australia.

Appeals by people paid under the Agreement can be lodged with Centrelink in Australia or with the Social Security Administration in the USA.

When an appeal has to be lodged within a specified period of time, provided it is lodged in either the USA or Australia within that time, it is considered to be lodged on time.
