10.23.6 Requirement to Claim a Pension from Greece

Requirement to claim a pension from Greece

The Agreement with Greece does not contain special provisions to make it compulsory for people claiming Australian pensions under the Agreement to also claim a pension from Greece. However, all claimants under the Agreement are required to take reasonable action to claim a comparable foreign entitlement from overseas, including Greece, as are people who claim autonomously. This requirement is covered by CFP legislation explained in 7.3.1.
