10.4.9.30 People Who Travel to a Third Country - Agreement with Italy

Third country portability

Article 18 of the Agreement with Italy provides that benefits paid under the Agreement may be paid to people who travel to a third country if those benefits are payable in third countries under domestic legislation. Article 18 also provides that if time limitations apply on benefits for people who leave Australia, then those same time limits apply to people who leave Italy.

See 7.1 for information on portability of benefits paid to people under the Agreement who leave Italy or Australia, temporarily or permanently, and travel to a third country.

Note: Different rules apply to people who are paid under the 1988 Agreement. These people can continue to receive benefits paid under the Agreement indefinitely should they travel to a third country.
