3.8.3.120 Variation or termination of PES

Date of event & date of effect of PES rate variation

The following information outlines the date of event and date of effect for a PES rate variation.

This would occur when a 25% concessional study-load student either:

  • increases their study-load to at least 50%, or
  • reduces their study-load to below 50%, and

is not receiving one of the qualifying payments exempt from the lower rate (3.8.3.40 and 5.1.7.30).

The DATE OF THE EVENT for the rate variation is either:

  • the date that the recipient varies their enrolment, or
  • if they vary their enrolment for a future study period prior to the end of their current study period, the day after the recipient finishes their current study period.

The DATE OF EFFECT of the rate variation is either:

  • if a rate reduction, the date of effect is governed by SS(Admin)Act sections 99 and 100, or
  • if a rate increase, the date of effect is governed by SS(Admin)Act section 110.
