1.1.I.10 Independent decision maker

Definition

For the purposes of the National Redress Scheme, an independent decision maker is a person engaged to assist the Operator in making determinations on applications for redress under sections 29 and 75 of the NRSAct.

A person may be engaged as an independent decision maker under the Scheme if first approved by the Minister for Social Services in writing. The Minister must first consult the appropriate Ministers from participating States and Territories.
