1.1.W.10 Within scope

For the purposes of the National Redress Scheme, within scope means abuse considered within the scope of providing redress under the Scheme. For abuse to be considered within the scope of the Scheme:

  • it must have occurred when the person was a child
  • it must have occurred either:
    • inside a participating State
    • inside a Territory
    • outside of Australia
  • it must have occurred before the Scheme start day.

The NRS Rules may also prescribe (in possible contravention of the above requirements) whether abuse of a person is within scope of the Scheme (or not in scope).
