Note: This program CLOSED on 30 June 2018. The following information is for historical purposes only.
Definition
The green army allowance is a payment paid to participants in the Green Army Programme. The green army allowance is paid directly to participants by their Green Army service provider.
The green army allowance ranges between $608.40 per fortnight to $987.00 per fortnight, depending on the Green Army participant's age and educational level. These rates are as at 1 July 2014 and will be indexed annually by the Department of the Environment and Energy.
Income support payments are not payable to a Green Army participant if they are receiving the green army allowance. Where the Green Army participant has a partner receiving income support, the green army allowance has a special income treatment applied under the income test.
