10.1.7 Requirement to Claim a Pension from the Agreement Country

Claiming a pension from the agreement country

Generally, recipients of Australian social security payments are required to claim their entitlement to a CFP (7.3.1).

In addition, some agreements require a person, who claims an Australian social security payment under an agreement, to also lodge a claim for a CFP from the relevant agreement country. This provision is usually contained in the Determination of Claims Article.

Some of Australia's agreements actually specify that when a person lodges a claim for an Australian payment under the agreement in question, that claim is also treated as a claim for a payment from the agreement country.
