10.11.1.20 General Principles of the Agreement with Austria

General principles

The Agreement with Austria is a shared responsibility Agreement and helps people to qualify for benefits they might not be able to get otherwise and conforms to the principles of shared responsibility agreements by:

  • allowing people to lodge benefit claims overseas,
  • allowing people to totalise to meet minimum qualifications,
  • allowing agreement benefits to be paid overseas,
  • offering income test concessions,
  • arranging for proportional benefit rates to be paid, and
  • arranging administrative cooperation between Australia and Austria.
