10.18.5.20 Totalising to Qualify for a Slovenian Benefit

Totalising for a Slovenian benefit

Article 10 of the Agreement covers totalisation in order to qualify for a Slovenian benefit.

Entitlement to Slovenian benefits is subject to a person having a minimum period of Slovenian insurance periods.

Example: A 65 year old male needs a minimum of 15 years of contributions to qualify for old-age pension.

People who do not have the minimum period of contributions can add periods of Australian working life residence to the periods of Slovenian insurance they do have to make up the minimum requirement.

Note: In order to use the Agreement to totalise for a Slovenian benefit, a person must have a minimum of 12 months of contributions to the Slovenian scheme.

There are special arrangements for people who contributed to a social security scheme in the former Yugoslav Republic. People who may be in this situation should contact the Slovenian authorities for clarification.
