10.27.6 Requirement to Claim a Pension from the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia

Requirement to claim a pension from the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia

The Agreement with the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia does not contain special provisions to make it compulsory for people claiming Australian pensions under the Agreement to also claim a Macedonian pension. However, all claimants under the Agreement are required to take reasonable action to claim a comparable foreign entitlement from overseas, including the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, in the same way as autonomous pensioners. This requirement is covered by CFP legislation explained in 7.3.1.
