10.4.4.20 Where People Can Lodge Claims under the Agreement with Italy

Where claims can be lodged

Claims for Australian benefits covered by the Agreement with Italy can be lodged:

  • in Italy, with any office of INPS, ENPALS or INPGI,
  • in a third country, with which Australia has an appropriate agreement, with the authority nominated in the administrative arrangement to the appropriate agreement, and
  • in Australia, with any Centrelink office.

Article 16 of the Agreement with Italy allows for the date a claim is lodged in the territory of the other party, or the authority nominated in the administrative arrangement of a third country with which Australia has an agreement that covers claim lodgement, to be accepted as the date of lodgement in Australia and Italy.
