11.2.3.20 Voluntary income management under the Cape York initiative

Voluntary Cape York initiative

An individual may voluntarily approach the Family Responsibilities Commission (FRC) seeking to be subject to income management if they live in a VIM area. The FRC may issue an income management notice about this individual. This individual is then subject to income management under the Cape York initiative, SS(Admin)Act section 123UF if:

  • the individual, or the individual's partner, is an eligible recipient of either a category P (11.2.5.10) or R (11.2.5.20) welfare payment, and
  • the FRC has given a valid notice to the delegate requiring that the individual be subject to the income management regime, and
  • the notice has not ended or been revoked or withdrawn, and
  • if the individual has a payment nominee the payment nominee is not an excluded payment nominee.
