3.1.5.140 Death of a care receiver - CA

Summary

A person receiving CA (child) may qualify for a bereavement payment upon the death of the child they were caring for.

A person receiving CA (adult) and an income support payment (other than CP) may qualify for a CA bereavement payment upon the death of their care receiver.

Death of carer & care receiver on the same day

Where the carer and the care receiver who are NOT members of a couple die on the same day, the care receiver is deemed to have died first. The beneficiary of the carer or the executor of their estate may be eligible for a bereavement payment, subject to the bereavement provisions applicable to the individual carer / care receiver relationship and payment status.
