Notifiable events for SpNP

In addition to the common notifiable events, SpNP recipients must notify Centrelink within the 14-day notification period, if they return to Australia. The notification and recipient obligations for SpNP recipients otherwise are the same as those applying to the payment they would otherwise qualify for.

Example: A special needs age pensioner has the same obligations as other age pensioners.

Comparable foreign payment (1.1.C.230)

The Secretary of the Department may require a recipient or their partner, to take reasonable action to obtain a CFP, if:

  • the recipient is likely to be entitled to a payment from a CFP country, AND
  • has not applied for the payment.
