The SSL is paid to qualifying students receiving YA (student) or Austudy up to twice per calendar year. Students are able to apply for the loan on a voluntary basis. The loans are repayable under the same arrangements as HELP debts. Students will only be required to begin repaying their loan once their earnings are above the repayment threshold.
