10.11.8.10 Rate Calculation - Background - Agreement with Austria

Basis for calculation process

Article 12 of the Agreement, when read with social security law, determines the rate of Australian benefit payable under the Agreement. There are 2 different methods of calculating the rate:

proportional rate, (mainly for people outside Australia) (10.1.9.20), and
direct-deduction rate, (mainly for people inside Australia) (10.1.9.60).
