10.5.6 Requirement to Claim a Foreign Benefit - Agreement with Canada

Claiming a Canadian benefit

The current Agreement with Canada does not contain special provisions to make it compulsory for people claiming Australian benefits under the Agreement to also claim a benefit from Canada. However, all claimants for Australian benefits under the Agreement with Canada are required to take reasonable action to claim any entitlement from Canada. This requirement is covered by CFP legislation in 7.3.1.
