These references clarify the effect of the three Rent Assistance savings provisions. The first, for certain retirement village residents, provides for the payment of Rent Assistance despite their treatment for other purposes as homeowners. The second, for certain boarders and lodgers, preserves the rules for calculating Rent Assistance that applied at the time. The third, the March 1993 provision, preserves the rate of Rent Assistance they were receiving at the time.

Certain 15 year olds quality for job search and sickness allowance if they reach the minimum school leaving age, not living with or supported by parents, and there full-time employment history or registered by unemployed for periods adding up to 13 weeks. If a client is not registered for periods adding up to 13 weeks, they may still qualify for special benefit if exempt from the parental means test (1067-C2).

If an impairment rating of 20% or more was allocated at the second assessment, determination of the application for DSP proceeded. From 26 July 1993 clients will no longer be offered the option of a second assessment of their impairment rating, but any offers made prior to that date will be honoured.
