1.1.M.23 Maintenance liability (FTB)

Definition

A maintenance liability is the requirement to pay maintenance (1.1.M.10) or child support (1.1.C.20). A payer (1.1.P.72) is liable to pay maintenance to the payee (1.1.P.71).

An assessment of child support liability is made by one of the following:

  • administrative assessment through Child Support
  • variation of administrative assessment by court order, or
  • child support agreement (1.1.M.15).
