1.1 Definition of key terms

Introduction

This chapter provides explanation of key terms. If a term has a slightly different meaning for different payments or benefits, each application of the term will be identified and explained. The payment or benefits to which the term applies are indicated in brackets after the term. The absence of a payment acronym after the term indicates the term has general application across most or all payments. Acronyms by which a term is commonly known may also appear immediately after the term. The terms are listed alphabetically.
