10.11.5.20 Totalising to Qualify for an Austrian Benefit

Totalising to qualify for an Austrian benefit

Article 13 covers totalisation in order to qualify for an Austrian benefit.

Austria can count periods of Australian working life residence as Austrian insurance periods when totalising for Austrian benefits.

If a person has fewer than 12 months of Austrian insurance periods (and no entitlement to an Austrian benefit exists), it is not possible to totalise for an Austrian benefit.

Austria will also take account of periods of coverage in a third country with which Austria has a social security agreement.

When it is necessary to totalise in order to qualify for an Austrian benefit, the Austrian entitlement will be calculated on a proportional basis.
