Change of circumstances under the Child Protection Measure

Change of circumstances

During the period of income management the delegate and the child protection worker will advise each other of any change in the person's circumstances for the purposes of the performance of the functions and duties, or the exercise of the powers, of the child protection authority in relation to the case. This would include, but is not limited to, any change of address, partner status or change in relation to the care arrangements of children. The delegate will advise the child protection authority of a change in the person's circumstances within 5 working days of becoming aware of a change.

Change of circumstances information will only be provided once the information has been confirmed, however, the normal protocols for releasing information to the child protection authority should be followed if there are immediate concerns about the safety and wellbeing of a child or other members of the public (as per existing 'public interest' provisions for disclosure to third parties). The child protection worker may decide that income management under the Child Protection Measure should cease earlier than originally intended due to a change in the person's circumstances.

If the child protection authority decides that income management should cease prior to the originally advised end date, the child protection worker must revoke the notice that is in effect in relation to the person, and the delegate will arrange an exit interview for the person as soon as practical.
