11.3.1 Overview of Child Protection Measure

Introduction

SS(Admin)Act Part 3B sets up the framework for the Child Protection Measure. These provisions cover social security payments and some payments received under the family assistance law, the VEA, the student assistance legislation, and administrative schemes such as ABSTUDY.

Note: For the purposes of chapter 11.3 the term 'child protection worker' refers to Western Australian Department for Child Protection case managers or NT Government child protection authorised officers.

Overview of Child Protection Measure

Under this income management measure, state or territory child protection authorities are able to notify Centrelink that a person be subject to income management under SS(Admin)Act Part 3B.
