1.1.D.10 Daily national minimum wage amount

Definition

The daily NMW amount for a day is defined as 7.6 times the amount of the NMW (expressed as a monetary amount per hour) set by a NMW order that is in operation on that day, irrespective of whether it takes effect on that day.

The daily NMW amount for a week day during the person's PPL period or DAPP period applies from the day of operation of the relevant order (i.e. 1 July) and not the day the order takes effect. The application date of 1 July is in line with indexation provisions of family assistance law and of the PPL income limit.

The amount of an instalment of PLP or DAPP is the total of the daily NMW amounts for each week day, in the relevant instalment period, that is also a week day during the person's PPL period or DAPP period.

A 'week day' means a day that is not a Saturday or Sunday (but includes any public holiday that is not a Saturday or a Sunday).

PLP is also paid in instalments at the daily NMW for days that are flexible PPL days for the child for which PLP is payable to the person. Flexible PPL days can be claimed and paid for week days and/or weekend days.
