1.1 Definition of key terms

Introduction

This chapter provides explanation of key terms. If a term has a slightly different meaning for different payments or benefits, this will be identified and explained. The payment or benefits to which the term applies are indicated in brackets after the term. The absence of a payment acronym after the term indicates the term has general application across most or all payments. Any acronym by which the term is commonly known appears immediately after the term. The terms are listed alphabetically.
