10.12.5.20 Totalising to Qualify for a Benefit From Cyprus

Totalising for a Cypriot benefit

Article 10 of the Agreement with Cyprus covers totalisation for a Cypriot benefit.

Cyprus counts periods of Australian working life residence as periods of Cypriot social insurance. Each week of Australian working life residence is equal to a period of insurance for earnings equal to the weekly amount of basic insurable earnings.

A person must have a minimum of 52 weeks of Cypriot insurance before they can use the Agreement to totalise and qualify for a Cypriot benefit.

Exception: The only exception to this is when the period of insurance required to qualify for benefit is less than 52 weeks.
