10.14.3.20 Benefits payable under the Agreement with Germany

Benefit payable

Article 2 of the Agreement with Germany lists the Australian and German benefits covered by the Agreement.

Australian benefits covered

• age pension
• disability support pension (only for the severely disabled for people living in Germany, and for those in Australia who are not severely disabled, if the person does not otherwise qualify on residence grounds)
• CP (to people who are caring for a partner in receipt of Australian Age or disability support pension
• pensions payable to widowed persons (PPS), and
• double orphan pension.

Note: Although listed as Australian benefits covered in Article 2 of the Agreement, from 20 March 2020, WP, WidB and BVA ceased. Recipients of these payments were transferred to another payment, such as Age, where eligible.

German benefits covered

The German benefits covered are those paid by the German pension insurance funds under the German pension insurance scheme. More information is available from the German Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Policy.
