10.29.8.10 Rate Calculation - Background (Agreement with the Slovak Republic)

Basis for rate calculation

Article 13 of the Agreement, when read with the social security law, sets out how to determine the rate of Australian benefit payable under the Agreement. There are 2 different methods of calculating the rate:

the proportional rate for people outside Australia, and for up to 26 weeks of a temporary visit to Australia (10.1.9.20), and
the direct deduction rate for people inside Australia, and for up to 26 weeks of a temporary absence from Australia (10.1.9.60).
