Declared VIM areas

A person may volunteer for income management if his or her usual place of residence is in a declared VIM area.

Deferral of sunsetting date for certain instruments

The following legislative instruments were due to sunset on 1 October 2022:

  • declaring New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia and Victoria to be voluntary income management areas for the purposes of the SS(Admin) Act Part 3B (the Social Security (Administration) (Declared voluntary income management areas – New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia and Victoria) Determination 2012), and
  • declaring the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara lands to be a voluntary income management area for the purposes of the SS(Admin) Act Part 3B (the Social Security (Administration) (Declared income management area - Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara lands) Determination 2012).

A subsequent legislative instrument, the Legislation (Deferral of Sunsetting – Social Security (Administration) Instruments) Certificate 2022, which came into force on 30 September 2022, has deferred the sunsetting of these instruments until 1 October 2023.
