4.5.3.30 Application for resolution payment

Process for applying

The Resolution Scheme is open for applications for a one-year period unless an extension is granted. The period within which a person may make an application for a resolution payment begins on 30 January 2026 and ends on 29 January 2027 (the application period).

An application to receive a resolution payment:

  • must be made either by submitting an application to the Secretary in the approved form, including through a Centrelink online account, or making an oral application to the Secretary in person or by telephone, and
  • must contain, or be accompanied by, any information specified by the approved form.

If an oral application is made, the Secretary must make a written record of the details of the application and the date on which the application is made. Oral applications are available to assist persons who may require assistance to complete a written application.

Note: An application may relate to more than one relevant debt, but a person cannot make more than one application in respect of a particular relevant debt. For example, if a person has multiple relevant debts that are affected by income apportionment, the person will only need to submit one application to seek a resolution payment for each relevant debt they wish to apply for under the Resolution Scheme. However, only one application may be submitted for each relevant debt.
