5.1.6.10 SpB - current rates

Current rates

The current maximum rates for SpB are common rates, see 5.1.8.20 Common benefit rates. The rate of SpB is a discretionary rate. However, the rate of SpB cannot exceed the rate of JSP, YA or Austudy that would be payable to the person if they were qualified. For information on the appropriate rate of SpB see 3.7.1.80.

Note: The YDS is not paid to SpB recipients.

Note: The JSP and YA rate for single principal carers of a dependent child who have an exemption from mutual obligation requirements due to foster caring, non-parent relative caring under a court order, home schooling, distance education or large family is not paid to SpB recipients.
