4.7.3 CCS & ACCS emergency absences

Summary

When a CCS period of emergency (1.1.P.78) is declared, emergency absences are available to families. Emergency absences are extra allowable absences (4.7.1) and do not use the family’s annual allocation of 42 allowable absences.

These absences will be automatically applied in the CCSS when a CCS period of emergency is declared.

The absence must be on or after 23 February 2022 and directly related to the CCS period of emergency. For example, where the service has to close due to flooding or staff are unable to attend the service because of road closures. Emergency absences also cover circumstances where a child cannot attend as a direct result of the emergency.
