5.2.3 Information required for past period claims - former partners

Introduction

This section covers requirements relating to instances where a former partner of an individual notifies Centrelink about a previous change of circumstances.

Changes of circumstances notified by former partner

When an individual (1.1.I.90) is paid FTB for a past period before separating from their partner (1.1.P.30), and their former partner (1.1.F.40) advises of changes in circumstances for the period before the separation, the details should be confirmed with the individual. If the individual disputes a reported change Centrelink should investigate whether the change has occurred. This will ensure the individual receives their correct entitlement.

Explanation: Changes in circumstance could be changes to family, income (1.1.I.20) or personal circumstances. The details of changes in circumstances need to be confirmed to ensure that the instalment individual receives their correct FTB entitlement. Information to be verified could include the date of separation and/or care arrangements.
