6.3 Initial eligibility & payability determinations for DAPP
Claims for DAPP are subject to 2 types of determinations:
- initial eligibility determinations, and
- payability determinations.
Initial eligibility determinations
These determinations can be made by Centrelink if a payability determination that DAPP is payable cannot yet be made on an effective claim, e.g. for an effective claim made prior to the birth of the child. Centrelink can make an initial eligibility determination that the person satisfies, or will satisfy, particular eligibility criteria.
Centrelink must make a payability determination about whether DAPP is payable to a person if the person has made an effective claim for DAPP.
There are restrictions that apply to prevent Centrelink from making a payability determination that DAPP is payable in some circumstances and general rules that apply to payability determinations.
