General principles
The Agreement with Austria is a shared responsibility Agreement and helps people to qualify for benefits they might not be able to get otherwise and conforms to the principles of shared responsibility agreements by:
- allowing people to lodge benefit claims overseas,
- allowing people to totalise to meet minimum qualifications,
- allowing agreement benefits to be paid overseas,
- offering income test concessions,
- arranging for proportional benefit rates to be paid, and
- arranging administrative cooperation between Australia and Austria.
