Requirement to claim a pension from the Republic of North Macedonia

The Agreement with the Republic of North Macedonia does not contain special provisions to make it compulsory for people claiming Australian pensions under the Agreement to also claim a Macedonian pension. However, all claimants under the Agreement are required to take reasonable action to claim a comparable foreign entitlement from overseas, including the Republic of North Macedonia, in the same way as autonomous pensioners. This requirement is covered by CFP legislation explained in 7.3.1.
