10.5.8.10 Rate Calculation - Background (Agreement with Canada)

Basis for calculation process

Article 7 of the Agreement, when read with social security law, determines the rate of Australian benefit payable under the Agreement.

There are 2 different methods of calculating the rate:

  • proportional rate, (mostly for people outside Australia) (10.5.8.20), and
  • direct-deduction rate, (mostly for people inside Australia) (10.5.8.50).
