12.2.2 Payment categories

Definitions

Under the enhanced income management regime, social security and family assistance payments are divided into various categories. These categories are used to determine eligibility for enhanced income management as well as the types of payments that are split in accordance with the enhanced income management regime.

In the enhanced income management regime:

  • category A welfare payment means
    • a social security benefit
    • a social security pension, or
    • a payment under the scheme known as the ABSTUDY that includes an amount identified as living allowance.
  • category B welfare payment means
    • a category A welfare payment
    • double orphan pension
    • FTB under the FAAct
    • FTB advance under the FA(Admin)Act
    • stillborn baby payment under the FAAct
    • carer allowance
    • child disability assistance
    • carer supplement
    • mobility allowance
    • pensioner education supplement
    • TAL under Part 2.25 of the SSAct
    • UA under Part 2.25A of the SSAct
    • a distance education payment under the scheme known as the AIC Scheme, where the payment relates to a child or children at a Homelands Learning Centre
    • a payment under the scheme known as the ABSTUDY that includes an amount identified as PES
    • a social security bereavement payment
    • an advance payment under Part 2.22 of the SSAct
    • an advance PhA under Part 2.23 of the SSAct, or
    • a MOB advance under section 1045 of the SSAct.
  • category C welfare payment means
    • youth allowance
    • jobseeker payment
    • special benefit
    • pension PP (single)
    • benefit PP (partnered).
  • category D welfare payment means
    • a social security benefit
    • a disability support pension
    • a carer payment
    • a pension PP (single)
    • a payment under the scheme known as the ABSTUDY that includes an amount identified as living allowance
    • double orphan pension
    • FTB under the FAAct
    • FTB advance under the FA(Admin)Act
    • stillborn baby payment under the FAAct
    • carer allowance
