Income limits - November 1983 to March 1993
The following table shows the income limits for fringe benefits from 3 November 1983 to 20 March 1993, when limits were indexed twice yearly in line with pension increases. Previously, limits were increased on an ad hoc basis. Amounts are shown in dollars per week.

These notes relate to historical income limits for pensioner concessions - November 1983 to September 1992:
Note | Explanation |
---|---|
A | Eligibility for a PHB card ceased when income exceeded the limit specified. Before 27 October 1986 eligibility for a PHB card ceased when income reached the limits specified. |
B | From 1 January 1990 special rules applied to those whose income exceeded the above limits by less than 25%. |
C | From 12 November 1991 eligibility for the PHB card was extended for 12 months to DSP recipients whose earnings exceed the PHB income test limits. |
D | Pensions fringe benefits income and assets (1.1.A.290) tests were abolished in April 1993. Anyone who was previously eligible only for a pharmaceutical benefits card could now receive a PHB card. |
