10.5.12.30 Transitional Provisions - Agreement with Canada

Transitional provisions

Because this Agreement replaces the previous Agreement with Canada it is necessary to include Transitional Provisions to cover people who are being paid under the previous Agreement. The transitional provisions ensure that this Agreement will not adversely affect anyone currently being paid under the previous Agreement.

Article 20 ensures that a person's qualification to receive a benefit under the previous Agreement will not be affected by the terms of this Agreement.

Example: A person who is not severely disabled and is receiving disability support pension under the previous Agreement will continue to qualify for that payment indefinitely while they are in Canada.
