12.3.6.20 Qualified & unqualified portion of welfare payments - child protection

Qualified & unqualified portion under Child Protection measure

A person may be subject to enhanced income management under the Child Protection measure if, at the test time either the person or the person's partner is an eligible recipient of a category A welfare payment.

Category B welfare payments (which includes category A welfare payments) are income managed under the Child Protection measure:

  • instalments of category B welfare payments (other than instalments of ABSTUDY) are income managed at a rate of 70%, and
  • lump sums, instalments of ABSTUDY with PES or living allowance and relocation scholarship payments are income managed at a rate of 100%.
