8.1.4.50 Disability & carer - documentation required

Introduction

The following table lists documentation required with claims for the payments/benefits in the disability and carer grouping. If more detail is required about specific documentation, the third column indicates where you will find this.

If CA is being claimed for the first time in respect of the child, THEN a report must be provided by the THP (1.1.T.170) verifying the child's disability.

If CA is being claimed for a child already qualified BUT the claim is from a new care giver, THEN a report from the THP is unnecessary, unless there is reason to believe the child's medical condition has changed or the child is due for the next age milestone review.

Note: If a person is qualified for CA automatically through qualification for CP (child), no additional documentation is required.
