11.2 Collecting information
Introduction
This chapter explains how Services Australia obtains information to administer the child support (1.1.C.60) legislation.
The Child Support Registrar can compel a person to provide information, to attend and answer questions and to produce documents. Services Australia can also gain access to employer records. However, most information Services Australia uses is obtained from parents (1.1.P.10) or third parties without compulsion.
