7 Child support collection & payment options

Introduction

A payee (1.1.P.30) can choose how their child support (1.1.C.60) is paid – either by private collect (1.1.P.110) or by agency collect (1.1.A.50).

When child support is collected through agency collect, there are different ways the payer (1.1.P.40) can pay their ongoing liability. This is different to child support debt (1.1.C.90) enforcement which is explained in Part 8 Child support debt enforcement.

Overview

The chapters in this part explain when child support is due and payable, collection types (private collect and agency collect), and the different ways that child support can be paid by a payer.
