5 Change of assessment

Introduction

While a formula assessment (Part 2) (1.1.F.20) reflects the needs of most separated families, the change of assessment (1.1.C.50) process allows Services Australia to determine if there are special circumstances which mean the amount of child support (1.1.C.60) payable should be adjusted to reflect the broader financial circumstances of both parents (1.1.P.10).

The chapters of this part describe the change of assessment process, the reasons under which a change of assessment application can be made, and the issues that the Registrar must consider when making a decision to change an assessment under CSA Act Part 6A.
